Six months of success in Devon and Cornwall
Six months on from opening its doors, the new Pall-Ex Logistics (Devon and Cornwall) facility has become an established part of the regional logistics landscape, supporting businesses across the South West with a range of distribution, storage and fulfillment services.

With prime location in Launceston, Cornwall, the new logistics hub has excellent transport links to the surrounding area and easy access to both the A30 and A39. This new facility represents Pall-Ex Logistics’ commitment to strategic investment in quality and sustainability across the organisation.
We spoke to Jim Maag, General Manager at Pall-Ex Logistics to find out more about how the new hub is running.
What has been the biggest difference to operations you've noticed since moving?
Bringing everything under one roof and the increased space in the new yard has improved the efficiency of the depot and helped massively with daily dispatches. The working environment is better too, with improved lighting, a level yard and a smoother flow of work. Canteen facilities for drivers are much improved and the office team has better visibility of the daily progress of our operation.
Any highlights from the last 6 months in the new hub?
The main highlight was relocating the entire site over just two days. The operation closed on Friday evening at 20:00 and the first deliveries left the new site at 04:00 on the Monday morning, with a seamless transition that neither our customers nor the delivery customer has noticed. Moving the entire office operation, all of the vehicles, and all of the warehouse stock over the course of just two days was handled with a high level of skill and commitment and a testament to everyone involved.
After working in a fragmented office structure, having the whole office on one floor has created a clearer line of communication and improved communication with the operational side of the business. Another huge highlight is that in the new warehouse, we can now offer improved customer stock visibility thanks to NexusWMS, after years of relying on spreadsheets to control stock.
What has feedback been like from customers/staff & drivers?
The customers that have been to the site have been impressed with the facility and can see the businesses commitment to the region as a long term investment.
The drivers and office staff can see that the business has delivered on its long-term promise to get the operation under one roof and its commitment to the future. Overall, it has given our staff and customers confidence for the future ahead.
What will the next six months look like for the depot?
Over the next six months, we plan to build on the great service levels that were maintained throughout the move, grow our customer base and offer existing customers added value through the additional services that we can now provide. We want to position the site as a gateway for storage and distribution in the South West and Cornwall, and we are well on our way to filling the 3500 pallet spaces in our new warehouse.
